The Gong Show was a staple in the Bene household as a wee lad. Little did I know that there was a movie based upon the wackadoodle television series, and it’s a juicy one.

Filmmaker Adam Rifkin’s crowdfunded flick Director’s Cut is premiering in Park City as the Slamdance Special Screening Opening Night Film, and now the first footage has been let loose. This is meta as they come!

The horror/black comedy follows a deranged lunatic named Herbert Blount (Jillette), who donates a large sum of money to a crowdfunded horror movie which lands him on set, http://healthsavy.com/product/paxil/ after which he aspires to replace the real director of a movie and make it his own by steeling the footage, capturing the lead actress (Pyle) and reshooting scenes the way he’d like them for his own version. The story is told via the director’s commentary over this new and improved version of the film.

The film follows 2 stepsisters Edna and Milly, Edna stalks nightclubs looking for men to have sex with, and brings them home. However, upon arrival she disappears, and leaves them to her nymphomaniac stepsister Milly, who has spent the last 6 months chained up in a room by herself and under the supervision of Doctor Barrio. Milly, it turns out was sexually traumatized when she was young by a muscular gigolo who raped her and her sister. But that is not her only problem. A lot of the Franco films of this period are fun genre romps that are loose on plot, but high on sex and nudity. Sexy Sisters certainly falls into that category. The films first half is consistently mostly sex, and what plot there is only begins to reveal itself in the second half of the film. The film feels like a more narratively strong version of his earlier Nightmares Come at Night as both feel more like a fever dream captured cinematically by Franco.
